Invisalign® Plant City, FL

Invisalign® clear aligners are one of the most popular ways to straighten your smile. The process consists of wearing a series of clear aligners that, like traditional braces, gradually shift and straighten your teeth. Invisalign® in Plant City is ideal if you’re concerned about the aesthetics or timeframe of orthodontic treatment. Dr. Busciglio is one of only 1% of orthodontists who is considered an Invisalign® Diamond+ orthodontist so you can be confident that you are receiving the highest quality orthodontic care.

How Invisalign® Works

Using the Invisalign® system, we will deliver a series of clear aligners every few weeks that will slowly and gently shift your teeth until they achieve proper alignment.

Each set of aligners looks a bit different than what your teeth currently look like as far as their alignment goes. Subsequent aligners are slightly different and will feel tight when you first wear them. As your teeth shift, the aligners will feel more comfortable. When they’re barely noticeable, it’s time for a new set as the teeth have shifted as far as they can go within the current aligners.

For the system to work properly, you’ll need to wear the aligners for approximately 22 hours a day. Nothing detrimental will happen to your teeth if the aligners are out for longer than that length of time. However, it will slow your progress and you’ll be in orthodontic care for a longer period and necessitate mid-treatment corrections (that could result in higher orthodontic costs) if you’re not wearing the aligners consistently for 22 hours a day.

What Does It Mean to be an Invisalign® Diamond+ Orthodontist?

The Invisalign® company offers its dentists four designations in a tier-system:

  • – Preferred
  • – Premier
  • – Premier Elite
  • – Diamond

The designation is based on how many patients a dentist has treated utilizing the Invisalign® system. Choosing an orthodontist that not only offers Invisalign® but also has an Invisalign®-recognized status will give you extra confidence in your orthodontist. You’ll know that they are extremely experienced in offering this form of treatment.

If you are someone who only wants the very best, you’ll want to choose a Diamond+ orthodontist. To achieve this level, an orthodontist needs to see between 280 and 399 or more Invisalign® patients each year.

A Diamond+ practitioner is a top-level provider that is very skilled at successfully completing Invisalign® treatment. When you search the Invisalign® website for providers, you’ll find practices ranked by their provider tier level.

Dr. Busciglio is one such practitioner for Invisalign® in the Plant City area – one of only a handful in the country that have achieved this level of expertise.

The Benefits of Invisalign® in Plant City

The benefits of investing in Invisalign® are numerous. Here are some of top reasons our patients choose orthodontic treatment with Invisalign®.

Aesthetically Pleasing

They’re clear, so they’re virtually invisible. People will barely notice you’re wearing them, which is great if you are worried about drawing attention to yourself.

They Are Removable

Do you have a presentation coming up? Are you going to be in a wedding? No problem! You can take the aligners out and store them in your purse or leave them at home. Enjoy your event. Nail that presentation. Then, go home and put your aligners back in. It’s as simple as that.

Oral Hygiene Practices Are Easier

When wearing traditional braces, you need to use special hygiene tools to thoroughly clean your teeth. Some of them, particularly floss threaders, can feel a bit cumbersome. With practice, the process becomes easier – but a lot of patients would like to avoid it in the first place if possible.

With Invisalign®, it is possible. Simply remove the aligners and brush and floss your teeth like normal.

We love how easy it is for patients to care for their teeth when they invest in Invisalign® in Plant City. Proper home care decreases their risk for dental decay and gum disease, which means they’ll not only have a beautiful smile after orthodontic treatment – they’ll have a healthy one, too.

Shorter Treatment Timeline

Treatment time varies per patient based on their needs and the severity of their case. Very mild cases require a shorter period of time – sometimes only six months of treatment. Moderate to severe cases require lengthier treatment, typically averaging between 12 and 18 months.

Who is a Good Candidate for Invisalign®?

As wonderful as Invisalign® in Plant City is, it may not fit the needs of every patient.

Some patients have cases that are more complex and that require more time and specialized devices. Traditional braces are often the best option for patients in these situations.

If you fit into any of the following categories, you might not be a good candidate for Invisalign®.

You smoke or are unwilling to quit while undergoing Invisalign® treatment

You don’t have the motivation to wear the aligners for 20-22 hours a day

The patient is a child who is too young to follow Invisalign® instructions

Elderly patients who have manual dexterity issues might find it difficult to remove the aligners to eat, as well as to clean the aligners and their teeth

You have complex orthodontic needs (severe bite issues that require additional orthodontic devices or even surgery)

Fortunately, most people are candidates for Invisalign® and can complete treatment successfully.

The Benefits of Starting Ortho Treatment Young

We start seeing patients as early as seven years in compliance with the American Association of Orthodontics recommendations and guidelines.

Seeing a child this early allows us to be proactive. We can see if a child’s teeth are in proper alignment and if their jaw is developing normally.

If we can diagnose an issue early, we can also treat it early. This often results in fewer orthodontic and restorative costs down the road.

With early treatment, we can help ensure that a child’s permanent teeth come in straight and in proper alignment with surrounding teeth, thereby reducing their risk of:

  • – Crooked teeth
  • – Crowding
  • – Spaces between the teeth
  • – Chipped, cracked, or fractured adult teeth
  • – Dental decay and gum disease because their teeth are hard to clean
  • – The need for crowns, bridges, root canals, or other restorative treatment related to malocclusion

How to Care for Invisalign® Aligners

When not properly cared for, clear aligners can become breeding grounds for bacteria, causing unpleasant odors and staining.

Thankfully, they’re easy to clean.

Since you’re wearing the aligners over 20 hours a day, you’ll want to clean them as often as you clean your teeth – at least twice a day. To make life easier, simply clean them when you’re brushing and flossing your teeth in the morning and before bed.

Using denture cleaner (it’s less abrasive than toothpaste) and a soft-bristled toothbrush, brush the aligners thoroughly inside and out. Rinse them with lukewarm water before placing them back into your mouth.

Once a week, soak the aligners in aligner cleaner or denture cleaning tablets. Allow the aligners to soak for approximately half an hour in lukewarm water. Rinse well before placing them back into your mouth.

Providing You with the Best Options for Your Needs

We understand that people have busy lives that require them to be in the public eye. Being able to achieve better occlusion in a way that is discreet and aesthetically pleasing is very important for many people. This is why we’re so happy to be able to offer multiple options to our Plant City orthodontic patients. If you or someone in your family has special needs that factor into their care, we are happy to find a way to work that into their treatment plan.
