Your First Orthodontics Visit Plant City, FL

If you or your child want a more beautiful smile, orthodontics is one of the best ways to make that happen. With orthodontic care, we can create a straighter smile that not only looks great but that protects your oral health. During your first orthodontics visit to our Plant City office, we’ll discuss all of your/your child’s needs and determine which treatment option is best.

Your First Orthodontic Visit Is on Us

Orthodontics is an investment of your time, energy, and money. We want to make sure you feel confident moving forward, which is why we offer every patient a free orthodontic consultation.

During this initial appointment, we’ll perform a comprehensive oral evaluation. We will review your medical and dental history. We’ll evaluate the health of your teeth, jaw joints, and overall occlusion.

Then, we’ll take a set of photos, as well as a panoramic x-ray, which will give us further insights into the health of and relationship between your teeth and jaw joints.

These diagnostic tools help us assess the needs of our patients so we can determine the best course of treatment for them.

Of course, we also want your input too! What are your orthodontic goals? What are your concerns? We urge you to share them with us. We want to answer all your questions and address your concerns, so you feel confident in your investment.

By the time your appointment is complete, you’ll know exactly what orthodontic issues you have and why your orthodontist recommends a particular type of treatment.

What Happens Next

Once we’ve discussed all possible courses of treatment and you’ve made the decision to proceed with one, it’s time to get started!

We’ll take additional photographs, a cephalometric x-ray (a profile x-ray), and other images of the teeth and jaw. Our team will also scan your teeth (or your child’s), which will later be used to create plaster study models. All these diagnostic tools provide information that is needed to develop a treatment plan that is truly customized to your needs and desires.

Once the diagnostics are completed, you’ll visit our scheduling department and set up an appointment to begin treatment, as well as follow-up appointments for periodic check-ups and any necessary adjustments.

Throughout your treatment timeline, we may take additional diagnostics to track your progress and make sure the treatment is working as intended.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

When you visit us, we’ll ask that you bring/provide:

The name of your dentist

The name of your previous orthodontist (if you had one)

Any diagnostic records you have (x-rays, photos, study models)

Dental insurance information (if you have insurance)

A complete list of medications and supplements you’re currently taking

A list of medical allergies (including allergies to things like metals or latex)

Financial Consultation

In addition to learning about your orthodontic needs, you’ll also have the opportunity to have a financial discussion with our team. This is why we request that you bring dental insurance information with you to this appointment.

During your appointment, our team can review your insurance plan and find out how much you can expect your insurance company to pay for your treatment. Some insurance companies will pay a certain percentage. Some only cover children up to 18 years of age. It all depends on the company and the plan you have.

Based on the information we receive from your insurance company, we can give you a more accurate estimate of your share of costs for orthodontic treatment in Plant City. From there, we can work out a payment plan to cover your portion of the cost of treatment.

What if you don’t have dental insurance? That’s not a problem. Just because you don’t have insurance doesn’t mean you can’t receive treatment. It just means that you’ll be responsible for 100% of the cost. Our team will work with you to find a payment plan that works with your needs and budget.

Your Child’s First Orthodontic Visit in Plant City

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children are seen for their first orthodontic consultation by the age of seven.

During their visit, their Plant City orthodontist will evaluate whether they need orthodontic care to ensure that:

– Their teeth come in straight
– They have a healthy, properly aligned bite
– They have enough room for adult teeth to come in
– They need spacers after baby teeth come out

An early orthodontic consultation will help us make sure your child has a healthy, beautiful smile. Getting to know our team early will also help us build trust so that your child feels safe and secure when it’s time to start orthodontic treatment.
